Raintree wood slab with

assorted tropical hardwood butterflies

and beams

W60 x D60 x H190

A standing sculpture composed of a single tree slab. Split with wedges by brute force but simultaneously held together by wooden butterflies and beams, the making process is the embodiment of the two opposing forces in tension; one in favour of chaos and destruction, another stands firm for order and conservation. This contradiction composes a piece of sculpture that represent the duality of life, a landscape of emotions and motives in a conundrum of what’s worth holding on to and what’s worth letting go.
